Let me introduce myself, my name is Rebecca and I am the owner and lead trainer of Academy of Canines. I was raised in the “dog world” with my father being a breeder, and finding myself learning training
techniques for all breeds throughout my life with a special “gift” for
reading and understanding animals by their body language. I have had a variety of different breeds over time from Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Black Labs, Bluetick Coonhounds, American Black and Tan Coonhounds, German Shepherds, White English Bulldogs, Wolf and Wolf mixes, Husky/German Shepherd mix, to my now Hovawart, and Akita/Mastiff/Lab mix. As I grew older I wanted my focus of training to be pointed in a direction that is needed, not just the enjoyment of
raising and showing dogs. Through out my life I have worked with many different breeds as well as mixed breeds, from the calmest of them to the most aggressive. I train ALL breeds of dogs no matter what color, shape, size, or temperament. My favorite love, are the large breeds, (which you will meet my pack through out your training) but I have found my love is just with dogs of any breed!
I started Academy of Canines in order to help keep so many of our dear pets from ending up in the already over populated shelters or destroyed. So many people adopt pets with the intention of them becoming part of the family... until they find their hands tied when that cute puppy they brought home becomes a destructive or disobedient “monster”. This is why most dogs end up in the shelters, dumped out... or worse.
By helping people who are in need of knowing how to train their dog(s), my goal is to keep YOUR dog, new or old family member, from being part of the increasing number of sheltered or abused dogs.
