In Memory of my original team

Toby and Shyla

Shyla Photos

As time passes, so do those who are closest to our hearts.

We will never forget them, they can never be replaced…

Their paw prints will always remain imbedded in my soul.

They were just two rescues, two dogs abandoned,

Two dogs who changed my entire life.

I dearly miss them.

Toby

Toby was abandoned with his litter mates in a cardboard box next to a dumpster. I adopted him from the local animal shelter when he was 8 weeks old. Through the years he became my best friend, loyal companion, and canine partner. Toby was loved by all who knew him, he never met a stranger, and was always the life of the “party” and loved his family.  He was also the beginning and inspiration of Academy of Canines. Toby will always hold a dear soft spot in our hearts and is truly missed by all who knew him. My mission to save lives and help people will carry on in his memory.

Shyla

Shyla was my unique one, my angel but no one else’s. By 10 weeks old she had been passed through 5 different homes then dumped out to fend for herself, severely abused, hated men, and would attack a human like a full grown aggressive dog would. Shyla was the “wolf that knocked on Grandma’s door” so to speak. Shyla trusted me, but no one else no matter what training, behavior modification,  or specialists were involved.  She was one of the best obedience “dogs” I have ever seen and totally dedicated to me. Unfortunately, Shyla was one of the creatures who was never able to overcome her past. A lost sole , do to the hand of man. The short time that she was here she taught me a lot and also showed me the path to where my work is needed. To help save the other “Shyla’s” out there. She became my best friend and I will always miss how she would wrap herself around me like a coat and lick the side of my face with love. Before her time was up on this earth, Shyla did learn that humans are not all bad and that she was loved. She will never be forgotten.
